JOB-2226

Type: Permanent

Salary: £70,000 - £70,000 per Annum

Location: Durham, County Durham

Director of Finance | NOF

£42,000 a year for three days a week (£70,000 full-time equivalent)
Belmont, Durham | Office-based | Free parking

You want to work three days a week. You still want your career to move forward.

At NOF, those ambitions can sit together.

You could be an established Director of Finance looking for a shorter working week without stepping away from responsibility or an experienced Financial Controller ready for your first director position. Either way, you'll join NOF's Board and help shape its future.

A business with a purpose and vision you can get behind.

NOF is a not-for-profit business development membership organisation with North East roots and a vast UK and international network. Since 1988, it has helped supply chain businesses make connections, find opportunities and win work. Today, its reach spans oil and gas, offshore wind, nuclear, hydrogen and carbon capture plus supports members to diversify into the wider energy sector

Its approach is personal and practical: understand members' businesses, look after their interests and introduces them to the right people.

For you, that means applying your commercial judgement where the return has a clear purpose. NOF aims to generate a sustainable surplus, reinvesting back into the business for the benefit of its members while building long-term financial resilience.

Your recommendations will help decide what happens next.

NOF has ambitions to strengthen member engagement, develop its industry intelligence services and make better use of technology. Your financial insight will help turn those ambitions into sustainable plans.

Working alongside the Chief Executive and Director of Business Development, you'll explore the questions behind the numbers and look at future financial scenarios in a changing energy sector industry landscape. You'll help NOF plan for the long term, not simply report on the month just finished.

There's also the opportunity to enhance financial systems and reporting, and support the long-term financial sustainability of Energi Coast, North East England's offshore wind cluster which is owned and operated by NOF.

You won't be starting from scratch. An experienced Head of Finance already manages the day-to-day finance function. You'll lead and support them, building on what works while remaining comfortable with the detail.

The way you do that matters. NOF is a small team, so this is a role for someone who listens, explains their thinking and brings all colleagues along on the journey to implement any improvements, respecting the vast experience already within the business.

What matters is what you can bring, not the title you hold today.

You'll be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, with a background in senior finance leadership. You'll bring experience of leading people, financial governance, risk and controls, alongside the ability to turn financial information into clear recommendations and contribute confidently to Board-level decisions.

Experience of working with public-sector bodies, funding or funded projects would be useful, as would previous membership organisation or not-for-profit experience, but neither is essential.

What matters is understanding the balance between commercial success and member value, and wanting to contribute to both.

A working week with room for life outside it.

You'll work three days in NOF's Belmont office. The days are to be confirmed. Normal hours are 8.30am to 4.30pm

Alongside your salary, you'll receive a 10% employer pension contribution after three months, plus a wider benefits package including BUPA healthcare, life cover, discretionary bonus eligibility and travel insurance. Professional development is also supported.

Annual leave is 36 days inclusive of statutory holidays, which will be pro-rata for your three-day working week.

You'll also receive a personal day each year for volunteering or a special occasion.

Plus you get to work with the friendly and engaging NOF team, where being part of a strong team means everything

Help shape NOF's future while taking the next step in your own career.
